After a ten minute speech in which Mitt Romney tried to blame the financial crisis entirely on the President and regulations, Iowa CCI members simply couldn’t take the hypocrisy any longer and spoke out. Click below to read more.
Members like Cheri Mortice demanded Romney speak out in favor of scrapping the cap on Social Security contributions from the rich and he refused. The crowd even took him to task for saying he wouldn’t “raise taxes on people” when asked to end tax loopholes for corporations, using laws similar to those he pushed for as governor of Massachusetts.
But the most important moment in the exchange came after the crowd suggested he raise taxes on corporations and Romney stated “corporations ARE people, my friend.”
